The Civil Services Examination is among the various eminent competitive exams in India organized by the Union Public Service Commission for enrollment to various Civil Services of the Government of India, including   IAS, IFS, and IPS. It is also referred to as the UPSC examination.

The UPSC exam will be conducted into three stages – a preliminary assessment comprising of two types of papers (General Studies Paper I and General Studies Paper-II is likewise famously known as Civil Service Aptitude Test or CSAT), and the main assessment comprising of 9 papers in total, 2 papers carrying 300 marks each are qualifying in nature and the rest of 7 papers carrying 1750 marks. The main examination paper will be subjective in nature.

UPSC Civil Services Apply Online 2020

UPSC has activated the link of online application for Civil Services Exam and the last date to apply is 3 March 2020. Aspirants should keep an eye on the eligibility criteria before filling the online application.


UPSC Civil Services Exam is a three-stage recruitment process containing Prelims, Main and Interview. A prelim is qualifying in nature while the final list is prepared with the score of Main and Interview. The prelims exam has 2 papers: GS and CSAT while the mains exam consists of a total of 1750 scores and 9 papers. Interview round of UPSC Civil Services Exam consist of 275 marks and these marks will be added in the merit list.

Age Limit: The minimum age limit for the exam is 21 years and the maximum age limit is different for different categories:

• General: 32 years

• OBC: 35 years

• SC & ST: 37 year

• PWD: 42 Years

Number of Attempts: 

• General: 6 Attempts

• EWS: 6 Attempts

• OBC: 9 Attempts

• SC & ST: Till the Age limit of 37 years

• PwD: 9 Attempts
